Adult Classes

From September to May we run a Beginners/Intermediate Class, a General Class and an Advanced Class for adults. All the classes are very relaxed and informal. There is no dress code, but dance shoes are advisable (soft shoes such as sneakers are ok for the Beginners' class). If in doubt about your level, try the Beginners' class first.

Beginners/Intermediate Class
This class is for people with a little, or no experience of Scottish Country Dancing, and for those wishing to learn more of the formations and popular dances. This class is taught by Mary and Bill Cant on Tuesday evenings and details are available here

General Class
The emphasis of this class is very much on social dancing. Here you will learn dances old and new, popular and less well known, and all in a relaxed and friendly manner. This is a relatively low impact class. The class is taught in rotation by Sue Steele, Margaret Harley, Susan Robertson and Joyce Porteous.

The class takes place on Tuesdays, 7.30 to 9.30 pm with a short break for tea (please bring your own cup!). The new session of classes will start in the autumn once the coronavirus outbreak is under control. £4.50 per session or £22 for a 6-week block. The new session starts on Tuesday 8th September.

Classes are held in St Andrew's Church Hall, King Street, Dundee (next to Wellgate Centre, use door at top of car park). For the access code to the car park, please get in touch, alternatively, there is parking in Queen Street off the Seagate (opposite Enterprise car hire) and steps up to King Street.

Advanced Class with Live Music

This class is for dancers with a good knowledge of steps and formations and who wish to learn more challenging dances. Some time is spent on technique and less common formations, with considerable emphasis on teamwork and social dancing. This class benefits from having an excellent musician to play each night (Neil Galloway, Bill Ewan, Luke Brady or Scott Band)

Classes run on Thursdays 7.30-9.30 pm. £27.50 for 6 weeks or £5.50 per night (students £15 for 6 weeks or £3 per night). The class is taught by Fiona Mackie. It is hoped to restart classes in the autumn.

Dancers from this class make up the Branch Demonstration Team. We perform at events throughout our area, helping to promote Scottish Country Dancing in Dundee and pass on our enjoyment of the dance to others.
